Performing Artists

What is the difference between a vendor and performance artists?

Vendors will be assigned booth space to display items or goods they bring. Performance artists are those who have a talent they would like to perform (i.e., music, dance, mime, comedy, reciting poetry, etc.) on stage. These artists may not necessarily have product to display or sell. Performance artists who do have product to sell can either (1) rent booth space or (2) consign their product to the “Local Artist” Expression Booth.

Expression Live Outdoors

Each day of Expression (except Sunday) live music will be provided by live bands from the surrounding region at Expression Live Outdoors located in the parking lot of Heritage Plaza in front of Christian Heritage Church. Beginning at 5:00pm on Thursday you will enjoy live music, food, kid events, and other activities for the family. If your band would like to perform at Expression Live Outdoors, complete the 2010 Performing Arts Application and submit it along with a non-refundable deposit.

Artist Showcase

Expression will feature local performing artists throughout the gathering on the Artist Showcase Stage. Located in the Vendor Area, artists will have the opportunity of ministering to hundreds of Expression visitors. Performing Artists who minister in dance, mime, drama, poetry, creative writing, music, etc. are encouraged to apply. Please note: This is a more contained area conducive for an intimate performance. You must complete a 2010 Performing Arts Application and submit it along with a non-refundable deposit.

Songwriting Competition

On Friday night, October 22 from 9:00pm to Midnight, Expression will host our third annual Songwriting Competition. All songwriters must submit original, copyrighted songs to be considered for entry (only one song per songwriter please). All accepted entries will perform their song that evening at the Late Night Cafe. All performances are limited to one vocal and one instrument (a piano will be provided). The songwriter does not have to be the person who performs their song. Songs must be submitted via CD or .mp3 file to cw@chctoday.com. Please make sure you provide a COPY of your song instead of the original files as CDs will not be returned. All Songwriting Competition participants must complete a Performing Arts Application, a non-refundable deposit, lyrics to their original song, and a CD or .mp3 recording of the original song. All songs will be pre-judged for content and musicality. The final portion of the competition, performance, will be judged the evening of the competition.
